buffers are an important element in the project. They serve to minimize any potential risks in advance. On this page I have read a plausible classification of different buffer types. This division, I am happy here and fill in the dots with my experience.
first Temporal buffer
These are the most prevalent and, relatively in the planning phase simply individual tasks or milestones to be assigned. These buffers should however be taken into consideration in the offer or date definitions in the project contract. It is often such that creep in over time buffer automatically, as is defined on the basis of dates: In most cases, an appointment must be found between all project participants and to all sit at a table, are like two or three weeks ago. This time, however, can already be used for project work.
second Financial buffer
These are especially the customer not against named as such. In general, an attempt is made to perform in the pricing task, which sound plausible, but actually bring no or very little effort. If one has the failed during the tender phase, it is possible to incorporate in any occurring change requests a financial buffer.
third Qualitative buffer
These buffers already moving strongly in the direction of Change Management. In most cases, the customer would like more improvements, although in our view is complete the project according to the defined scope. Here, too, the PL always have an ace up its sleeve. This he can achieve if he, for example, a "luxury" solution drives, but the customer first only the agreed "normal" solution presented. Any additional shipments can be done quickly in some circumstances. He, too, for example, can handle technical risk prevention. Then, when the risk actually occurs, one has already a solution.
