The following 12 lines that Trakl wrote in 1914, I have learned by heart years ago. There are only a few who touch me like that; there are few, the visionary and lead but also in the center of the human being as the following three verses, entitled:
A WINTER EVENING.
When the snow falls to the window.
heralds the long curfew,
Many of the table is prepared
And the house is well-ordered.
Some people on the tramp
Come to the door on dark paths.
Golden blooms the tree of grace
cool from the earth juice.
hiker steps into silence;
petrified the pain threshold.
Since shines in pure Bright
On the table bread and wine.

On 3 November 1914 Georg Trakl succumb - for me one of the most important poets German; he lived from 1887-1914 - in the evening at nine clock an overdose of cocaine. Never one to be able to clarify whether it was an intended suicide. At this time he stayed in the Cracow garrison hospital, where he had been instructed to monitor his mental condition. Background was that it mates with Effort could prevent them from committing suicide when he was directed to a gun.
Never had Georg Trakl the consequences of the Battle of Grodek overcome, as he put on his own, to care for 90 severely wounded, had the most after this battle 24th August 1914 had been admitted into that barn, in which he did as a trained pharmacist service. No doctor was present, there was hardly any dressing material, Trakl was exposed to the screaming, the death cries of the severely injured.
We know from his Biography: Just as these people shouted his soul for many years himself
Georg Trakl has left us a work of intimate and different lines, which he created in the 27 years of his life. Basically, he is in a great many of the brilliant poet and injured German such as Jakob Michael Reinhold Lenz, Friedrich Hölderlin, Friedrich Nietzsche, and others who were so anxious often put to unspeakable into words.
